CONSTIPATED AFTER IBS FLARE/BLOODY DIARRHEA

Hi again,
In my previous post I talked about my IBS which I had this past Saturday night. After the attack, I had intermittent bloody diarrhea through Sunday night, and didn't eat much. Yesterday, I ate my normal diet, had broccoli, an apple, chicken. No bowel movement at all. This morning, I had oatmeal, a banana, coffee. It's 2 pm, still no bowel movement and no urge to go. Now I'm worried. I'm very regular, typically going 1-3 times a day. Could this last attack with the bloody diarrhea cause constipation?? I was the blood has stopped, and my next bowel movement will be normal, but now I can't go.
Can someone please advise me on this? Can I get septic from not pooping for the last 2 days?

I do have an appointment next week with my gastro, and will schedule a colonoscopy.

Sorry for the graphic description, but I'm sure everyone on here understands.
Thank you!

  1. I am so sorry you are feeling this way and having these symptoms. While I wish I could give you the answers you are looking for, for your safety I can not offer any medical advice here. I am glad to hear you have an appointment set up with a gastro in a week and would suggest reaching out to them or your primary care provider sooner if you are experiencing new or worsening symptoms. Please keep us posted with how your appointment goes and how you are feeling. Sending comforting thoughts your way. Warmly, Erin (team member)

    1. Thank you so much Erin for your response!
I will be sure to follow up on here after my Doctor appointment. For right now, I'm just hoping this constipation doesn't last more than another day or so. I feel bloated, and I'm afraid to eat because I don't want to worsen the bloating.. I plan to purchase a liquid enema tomorrow and try that. If it doesn't work, I'll be concerned because I've used enemas in the past and they've always worked for me. Fingers crossed...🤞
      Thanks again for responding.
