Hi
I have heard of this as a treatment for constipation though I have never tried it myself. The magnesium increases the water in your intestines, theoretically making the stool softer so you can pass it easier.
Let us know how you get on

After long experience with constipation, I have tried and continue to use magnesium for constipation and other issues and find it helps. There are different kinds of magnesium. Some are better than others for adding fluids to your bowels while others relax large muscles. A quick read up might help you buy the type you think will help you most. I have found PEPPERMINT GELS have had the most benefit for my constipation relief. They are inexpensive and work gently to move bowels in a few hours, especially if I drink sufficient water. Peppermint gels have been my best source of relief. I don't take laxatives of any kind. I hope you feel better soon.

All I can say is they work for me. My GI recommended IB Gard for my constipation. The main ingredient is peppermint so I tried peppermint gels as they are much cheaper than IB Gard. I might have to take two during the day, but they keep me going, so to speak. Myself and my cats thank you for your prayers.
