Is it a flare up?

Hi. So I was diagnosed October 2020, and experienced my first flare up at 37 weeks pregnant. Docs put me on steroids, upped my OCTASA and started suppositories. My baby is now 11 weeks and I’ve been off steroids for about 4 weeks now.

My question is.. what do you do in a mild flare up? Do I contact my doctor with every sign of bleeding or can it clear up itself? I’m on max dose of my octasa and do a suppository each night Can it simmer down itself? The next stage is injection meds which I don’t want to do. So basically do mild flare ups clear up themselves sometimes? Am I panicking for no reason?!

  1. If it were me, I would let my doctor know, especially since you have blood involved. Perhaps a change in meds would be best too since it seems you are flaring? Wondering how your diet looks and if you are doing any other therapies to help? I hope you feel better soon. Big hugs, Elizabeth (team member)

    1. Hey, . I can only tell you what I would do, as we're all different. I know from experience that my IBD has always progressed rapidly. I went from the first experience of symptoms to surgery in less than 3 weeks. Blood is not "normal", so I'd contact my team.
