9 weeks pregnant microscopic colitis

I’m 9 weeks almost 10 weeks pregnant this would be my 4th pregnancy the previous 2 ended in early losses, a few days ago the ultrasound confirmed a strong heartbeat. While I’m so excited about this my microscopic colitis is flaring up on top of all day morning sickness it’s extremely hard to eat anything, wether I’m cautious or not I’m having diarrhea and cramping…it’s extremely discouraging…before pregnancy I would only have issues before my period now it’s getting in the way…I don’t know if I should tough it out or reach out to my GI about it, I’m less than 100 pounds I’m scared that my body isn’t going to give enough nutrients to my baby. Im at a loss…

  1. Hi @Daisy94, thank you so much for sharing and I am so sorry that you are going through this. It sounds very frightening and I can only imagine your worries with your baby too. I ALWAYS recommend talking to your doctor if you think there might be a reason to. It's your doctor's job to hear you and pay attention to any changes in your body. In this case, it really sounds like it needs to be monitored. Perhaps you could reach out to your GI and your OBGYN. That way, you can get thoughts from two specialists. They may even be able to collaborate to make a plan for you.

When I can't eat, I do try to go on more of a liquid diet. I focus on broths and drinks with electrolytes. But I feel that with your pregnancy, it's vital that you also get guidance from your doctors on this, since a liquid diet may not be the best option for you.
