Supplies in hand luggage

Hi all, has anyone experience of what items are permitted in hand luggage? I’d like a back up of a few items in the unlikely event my hold luggage is lost. This would be a couple of colostomy bags, some micropore tape and the item I’d be most concerned about is a small tube of stoma paste. Thanks in advance for any thoughts from readers experience, Steve

  1. Hi Steve (). First, let me say that I'm glad to hear you are looking to continue traveling. I can't personally speak to this issue, but you are definitely are not alone in trying to figure out how minimize issues and make sure you have what you need with you. Our patient leaders have written a number of items on this topic, such as this one from Julie Marie: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/packing-travel-tips, this one from Sahara: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/travelling-tips, and this one from Paul: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/travel-medication. I also want to share with you this page from the TSA on bringing medical supplies: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/medical. Never hesitate to cite it and ask for a supervisor if you run into issues. Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences and hope this information helps. Best, Richard (Team Member)
