Terrifying stool culture/lab results

So I was diagnosed with colitis 3 years ago but I was never told exactly what colitis it was. I assumed ulcerative and I avoided doctors and tried to pretend that I was perfectly healthy

I deathly relied on bentyl and avoided any spicy greasy or fried food. I went back to the gastrologist after 3 years and I did some tests. I have really high immunoglobulin A and I have a 951 calprotectin level.

Please tell me if I have Crohn’s disease or cancer? I am terrified waiting for my gastrologist to call me about the results. I been having bad stomach pain since 2 months ago when my psychiatrist prescribed me Wellbutrin XL it completely demolished my stomach and left me with extreme diarrhea and pain. Idk what to do im only 21 and im always tired or in pain

  1. I forgot to mention that I do have ischemic colitis. I was officially diagnosed with that 2 weeks ago and promptly did testing.

    1. I'm so sorry to hear how you're suffering with such pain and exhaustion. Please know you aren't alone here! Has your doctor been in contact with you since this post? Have you discussed your symptoms on your current treatment plan, and possibilities for a different treatment? I hope you find some answers soon. Will you keep us updated, if you can? We're all here for you and thinking of you - Pam (Team member)

  2. I'm late in replying, so assuming you have spoken to your Gastro now? There's definitely no need to jump the gun and assume you have cancer. There are many reasons for a high Calp result. A colonoscopy would give a better indication of what's going on. Have you had one recently?
