What to eat during UC flare up

After 20 years with mesalamine meds for my UC they have finally stopped working. I’m flaring badly and looking for advice on safe, easily digestible foods. I’m on vacay out of town & wont see my doc until aug 30th to begin search for new treatment plan. Any advice helpful!

  1. Oh no, ! To have your meds stop working while you're on vacation sounds like a major pain! It's a little bit tough since not everyone finds all the same foods easily digestible, but hopefully some people can share what works for them to give you some ideas. In the meantime, I'm linking an article with some ideas for low residue food, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/low-residue-foods-list And this one has one of our advocate's favorite snacks for Crohn's (I know you have UC not Crohn's but I still wanted to share to give you some ideas). https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/nutrition/snack-ideas I hope that can give you a starting point and that you're able to still enjoy your vacation! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. Hi . On top of the excellent information from Christine, I want to share with you this article from our patient leader Matt on what to eat during an IBD flare: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/flare-foods. Of course, everybody reacts differently, so any suggestions may be hit or miss. Hopefully others will chime in with what has helped them. Best, Richard (Team Member)
