What is going on? Not pregnant!

I've been going through a flare. Fever, constipation and nausea...now all of a sudden I feel kicks or my stomach moves as if I had a baby in there. (I have had two so I know how it feels) the spasms are run from soft that are just annoying to rough that i let out a scream because they creep up on me. Has anyone felt it? What is it?!

  1. Hi,

I too would get horrific spasms whenever I was flaring. Sometimes it would feel like I was being stabbed from the back, there were so severe. I'm not sure what it is, but I would definitely see your doctor about it so that you can get your flare under control. Whenever I would get the inflammation under control, the pains would go away.

    I hope you feel better!

    1. Hi Mommyrox,

First, y'ouch!! Those spasms are something else. I've had them since childhood and for the life of me I cannot explain them. But I also have never asked my doctor about them.

So, this leads me to the unpopular part of my response -- which is to speak with your IBD doctor regarding the spasms. Whether they can explain them, I'm unsure, but there are things that can be done to help when you're having those awful and painful spasms.

      1. Hi MommyRox,

I, too have had those, as well as a baby. I started experiencing them after surgery my JPouch surgery. I find I get them when I haven't eaten enough or had enough water/hydration.
