Leakage

Hello all, I hope you are enjoying a symptom free day. I am a 55 yo male and I have been dealing with my ulcerative and crohn’s colitis symptoms for 20 years now. For the most part my monthly Remicade infusions helps with me live a somewhat normal life.

However I do have to deal with anal leakage after ever bowel movement. This usually lasts for several hours. I use mini feminine hygiene pads that I have to change every 1/2 hour or so to prevent irritation.

I am very curious if anyone else deals with this very difficult issue.

Thank you for your replies.

Sincerely
Dan

  1. Thank you for your post, @ChrohnsandColitisSufferer. These article may shed some light on what you are experiencing, in addition to providing some relief. While I do not have those side effects, hopefully these articles will help you and perhaps others can jump in on this conversation, too. Hope your day is going well!

  3. I have actually just written a post about this, but it's not live yet. For me, it was a nighttime thing. I had to sleep on a towel, and like you, wear a sanitary pad.
I was referred for biofeedback. I am in the UK. Not sure where you are. It's definitely worth bringing to your consultant's attention.

    1. very interesting, I just did a quick search on what biofeedback as I have never heard of it before. It seems to be some kind of mindfulness type therapy, is this correct? I’m located in Canada and am scheduled to see my nutritionist on Friday and I will bring this up with her for sure.

It sounds like biofeedback has helped you which is fantastic, I will try pretty much anything to get this issue under control.

I look forward to reading your post and thank you for the recommendation.

      Cheers

    2. no, it's more like physio! It's designed to strengthen the muscles so that you can hold it in! 😀
