Hi can anyone tell me does colitis cause sore and inflammed gums
thedancingcrohnie Member
I am not a doctor so I cannot say for sure. But from my personal experience I would say yes. Have Crohn's, I have had inflammation in my mouth in the form of mouth sores and inflamed gums. Are you currently flaring? -Elizabeth (team member)

thanks for reaching out! Inflamed gums are one of those unexpected symptoms that could be caused by Crohn's or UC. We have a couple articles on site written by patient leaders who have experienced this first hand. I'm including some of those here: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/ibd-affect-gums-teeth and https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/impacted-teeth
Be sure to reach out to your doctor with any concerns! Hope you find some relief soon. - Pam (team member)
