Trouble sleeping

I’ve been struggling trying to sleep at night, and thinking it may be insomnia…Is it okay to take melatonin? I get entyvio infusions and don’t know if it would have a different effect on me.

  1. Personally, when it comes to treatments, I think it's always best to err on the side of caution and consult your physician. I take numerous supplements daily, and my Dr. has the list of supplements logged in my personal information. He not only knows which ones I take, but he also knows the dosage of each. I believe transparency is always the best. One never knows how prescribed medications might interact with other treatments. So, I think you should just reach out and contact your doctor. I'm not on Entyvio infusions, and I can't speak from that medicinal vantage. Maybe someone who is will chime in with their experience. In the meantime, I'd just make a call or email your physician. Best of luck! --Traci, UC-IBD Team Member

    1. Thanks for replying! I ended up taking a couple last night and so far so good. I am going to talk to my GI soon and I’ll find out more though 😀

      1. just wondered whether you'd seen any improvement in your sleep yet? I am in a constant battle trying to sleep well. I wrote about it recently, actually: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/sleep-struggle
I also wrote about the importance of sleep hygiene for people with IBD before that, which you might find useful! https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/sleep-hygiene
        Hope this helps!

        1. But do you find yourself getting sleep during the early morning times, cause you know, I find myself struggling to sleep at night but falling asleep in the early hours. Well, have your sleep improved, now?
