Recent Crohn's Diagnosis

I am 62 and was recently diagnosed with mild Crohn's, but I do have two bowel-to-bowel fistulae. The doctor who performed my colonoscopy five years ago suspected Crohn's, but I wasn't informed of this until an abdominal CT scan and colonoscopy in February of 2024 confirmed it and the presence of intestinal fistulae.

Due to the stress of the diagnosis, my problems with diarrhea increased, as did stomach pain from gas. I put this down to IBS. My specialist really wants me to go on biologics, which I am, frankly, scared of after doing research and because of my age. My understanding is that biologics are mostly recommended for moderate to severe cases of Crohn's. I'm assuming it's because of the fistulas?

I have lots of support from loved ones, but I am grateful for this forum to tell my story.
