Acupuncture

Hi! Has anyone on here tried Acupuncture? Someone has recommended it to me and said that it has helped them so much and in so many ways and thinks it could be helpful. I would like to try it although having needles pocked into me I’m not sure lol

  1. I have never tried it but I too have heard great things about it. From what I understand the needles aren't painful and you barely feel it. Definitely do your research and go to a reputable place though, because that makes a huge difference. -Elizabeth (team member)

    1. Hi ! I have tried acupuncture but for back problems and never for my Crohns.
For my back, it worked wonderfully and relieved the pain. I agree with go to a licensed acupuncturist and reputable. Maybe look for someone who has done other patients with IBD.
There is this article written last year:

Hopefully, it will work, if you decide to go ahead. I would be interested in how you got on. Let us know!

      1. yes! In an old job, I worked with a lady who was previously based in the pain clinic at the hospital. She was medically retired due to ongoing back problems and chronic pain. The irony! She had trained in lots of different areas, one of which was acupuncture. I was struggling with intestinal and joint pain at the time, so thought it was worth a go. It didn't do anything to relieve any of my pain. However, I did feel really relaxed afterward, and stress, sleep, emotions, etc can all heighten our experience of pain. I did think it might be worth doing regularly just to see if it would help my stress levels and sleep, but I ended up having surgery not long after and didn't really think about it again.
