Constipation Crohns vs diarrhea version

I have 3 large structures right at the junction of the ascending and transverse bowel. Couldn't be a worse place because anything and everything can get plugged up there. Thus I have to drink so much water that I spend more time peeing than anything, and constantly afraid I'll get an obstruction. Sometimes a stool softener with stimulant will help but sometimes it won't, so I have to keep a bottle of Mag Citrate in the fridge at all times. I can't get in to the nutritionist until mid-November. Anyone else have this plugged drain problem?

  1. Hi . Constipation can certainly be a thing with IBD and our contributor Jackie wrote about her experience here: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/uc-constipation. Give that you note the stricture issues, I'm wondering if your issue is more blockage than constipation. This article from our editorial team on the topic: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/symptoms/complications/intestinal-blockages. Our contributor Marisa wrote here about dealing with partial blockages: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/partial-bowel-obstruction. You mention a nutritionist. Could you get an appointment with a gastroenterologist? They might be a better help with this issue. Hopefully others will chime in with their thoughts. Please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing and to ask additional questions. Best, Richard (Team Member)
