Hello all,
I'm looking for some 2nd opinions, thoughts, tips or advice in regards to making a decision on whether to change my biologic treatment to suit my lifestyle better...
I have been on Infliximab infusions for about 4-5 years now and they've always worked relatively well for me. About 2 years ago I was put onto the maximum dose as I had started experiencing a few niggling symptoms & Ive mostly been ok since then.
Fast forward to now, I have a toddler & I'm a stay at home mum. So although the infusions used to suit my lifestyle fine as I only had myself to think about, I've been finding over the past year or so that it is quite a struggle every 6 weeks when Im due an infusion - trying to organise child care, take the few hours out for my treatment, and then deal with feeling like an absolute zombie for the rest of the day whilst trying to look after a busy toddler 🥴
Ive discussed all of this with my consultant who is very supportive and has no issues with me choosing to change treatment, but Im just quite on the fence at the moment as to whether the pros outweigh the risks!
I would say my crohns is pretty much in remission currently judging by all recent test results & the fact I've got no active symptoms. So either I stick it out with Infliximab and continue juggling things every 6 weeks for the foreseeable future...
Or, I take the plunge and switch to either Rinvoq or a sub-cut biologic that would much better suit my lifestyle, however there is obviously always a degree of risk that the new drug may not work for me and my Crohns could flare 😓 On the flip side, I could switch drugs and it could work just as well!
Apologies for the huge ramble, I'd be glad of responses of any kind... Thank you!! Xx
