Stress

My gi doctor is horrible. I am having pain in my stomach right now from my ulcerative colitis
It's a 11 on the scale

  1. When I called my gi office. All they said was what do.you want . They hung up

    1. Oh my goodness, , I am sorry to hear that you're in so much pain and your GI clinic dismissed you! While I'm not a doctor, I do know we have a lot of community members who have ended up in the ER when the situation (and pain) presented itself. Please don't hesitate to seek the medical you need! Also, I'm not sure whether or not this would be feasible for you but, in the long run, you might want to consider if this GI doctor/clinic is the best fit for you. We do have this article written about deciding to switch doctors, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/switching-doctors-decision. As well as this one with some tips on switching doctors, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/new-gastroenterologist. You deserve to be listened to, support, and relief from the pain! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

      1. I’m really sorry you’re going through that right now—I know that level of pain, and it’s honestly unbearable when it spikes like that. An 11 out of 10 is no joke, and it’s made even worse when you feel like your GI doctor isn’t stepping up or taking you seriously. You deserve better care, period.

When my flares have been that bad, sometimes the only things that helped were heat pads, lying completely still, and tiny sips of electrolyte drinks. But honestly, when it’s that intense, it might be time to push for urgent care or A&E if you’re not being heard. You shouldn’t have to sit through that kind of pain alone.

That feeling of being let down by doctors is actually part of why I started my clothing brand, Angry Bowel. It’s literally built on the frustration, the pain, and the total madness of living with this disease—sometimes you just have to find something to laugh at when everything else feels out of control. It’s dark humor, but it’s helped me stay sane through the worst of it.

Please hang in there, and don’t be afraid to get a second opinion or demand better care. You deserve relief.

        1. So sorry to hear. It's a sad story familiar to all. Know yourself. You can call patient assistance. Change your doctor.
My GI told me it was a primary care issue, I ended up in ER. long story short, changed doctor then my husband firmly told that doctor off after I had surgery. As I was still in the same practice.
