Adalimumab

I am just about to start the injections and I really don’t want to - has anyone got experience of this ?

  1. Hi Debswagner, I'm about a month an a half into starting Humira. While i was afraid of the idea of self injecting, I've not had any issues. I don't even feel the needle anymore. And I get better at it with each one.
That said, they say it takes 3 months to get the full benefit out of it, so I will wait and see. I have left sided Ulcerative colitis and am going through my first flare, and it's been brutal on me.
    Hope this helps.

    1. , hi!!!
I decided to go for it, and I had to do a peer review with my insurance. They did it!!! Woo hoo!!! I'm now approved for humira once a week!! My gastro Dr also got me on weekly iron infusions for the next month to help with my anemia, as well as an extra dose of humira so I could start with the weekly dose in anticipation of getting the approval.
Today, I'm doing my shot and it will be week 3 on once a week.

Oh, and my face broke out in eczema, and I had to get fluticasone cream to calm it down. So lovely! Lol

    2. Hi . Wow, so glad to hear you were approved! Sometimes I think denials come from insurance companies thinking people do not know they can appeal or will not go through the fight. I've been surprised by how often insurance companies fold or eventually lose if a person appeals. Hope the eczema is improving. Congratulation again! Best, Richard (Team Member)

  2. I have been on Humira for 8 months but then switched to a Humira biosimilar (government forced switch) for the past 2 years. I was reluctant at first with the pen injectors but it is very easy (every two weeks) and I find it easier than going to get infusions every 4 weeks. I didn't notice any difference when I went from Remicade to Humira but it can take a few doses to see or feel a difference in symptoms, though some say they notice sooner that that.
Let us know how you get on and good luck!
